Nomination for Institute Doctoral Representative

Eligibility Criteria:

1] Should have completed at least 3 semesters with no active backlog till May 2015.

2] Should not hold any other institute level official position apart from institute academic council.

3] Should be a PhD student who is not passing out before April 2016.

Responsibilities

1] Will be made as a member in the Post Graduate Programmes Committee (PGPC) to address the issues of PhD students at the institute level.

2] Should take steps by coordinating with the Offices of the Dean (AP), Dean (R&D), Dean (SA) and others to improve and strengthen the research and development activities and output of the Institute, especially at the doctoral student level.

3] Should try to work towards the MoUs for creating visiting research scholars positions.

4] Will help to form AURAA (Academic Unit Representative for Academic Affairs) council under the GSAA PG with representatives from each department, should get regular updates from them about different dept. activities and inform different plan of action of PG Acad. Council on regular basis and also should coordinate with them to build the Post Doc Alumni Database of IIT Bombay.

5] Should ensure healthy interaction between RSs and Masters Students by organizing various technical discussions in coordination with AURAAs and ensure smooth functioning of student committees at the department levels.

6] Should coordinate with each departmental representative to know the updates of research work in their departments and can give suggestions for modifications/publishing of their “Departmental magazine”.

7] Should co-ordinate with the committees of library and the other central facilities.

8] Should ensure measures for dissemination of Ph.D program related contents and issues to the doctoral student community and for building relevant discussion/ complaint forums.

9] Should work closely with the OCs of Institute Research Scholar Companion Programme (IRSCP) and Research Scholar’s Forum (RSF).

11] Will be responsible for ensuring the essential and new journals, conference proceeding, standards, research magazines, new book releases for the research community.

12] Should coordinate with web nominee to update the Ph.D related contents on the server and in maintaining the PG discussion forum and complaint forum.

13] Should help in creating of centralized database to inform students about current utilization of Research Facilities and inform current PhDs about central facilities and their usage criteria by way of website

14] Should ensure of giving a helping hand in showing IITB research in a broader perspective.

15] Should work closely with CEP and QIP cell.

Groundwork

The candidate is expected to do groundwork with present IDR, GSAA PG (2014-15 and 2015-16), IRSCP-OCs (minimum 1 OC), Executive Members (minimum 1), at least 3 AURAA’s before attending interviews and should get their respective signatures.

Nomination for Institute Master’s Representative

Eligibility Criteria:

1) Should have completed at least one complete semester in the institute with no active backlogs till May 2015.

2) Any post graduate student of IIT Bombay not passing out before April 2016 can apply.

3) The student should not be holding any other Institute recognized post.

Responsibilities

1) Will be made as a member in the  Post Graduate Programmes Committee (PGPC) to air the issues of Masters Students.

2) Shall help to form the Academic Unit Representative for Academic Affairs (AURAA) council under the GSAA PG with representatives from each Academic Units, should get regular updates from them about different dept. activities and inform different plan of action of PG Acad. Council on regular basis.

3) Should coordinate with the library committee and will be responsible for ensuring the availability of books on demand and conducting surveys on the same.

4) Should conduct the inter-departmental surveys for reducing the course slot clashes.

5) Should help in organizing sessions in each department explaining the flexibilities in each curriculum.

6) Should coordinate with the department level Master’s representatives to conduct the 1st year Masters students’ orientation and mentorship classes by coordinating with the SCP Coordinator.

7) Can give suggestions to departmental representatives for modifications /publishing of their “Departmental magazine”.

8) Should coordinate with web nominee to update the Masters related content to the server and in maintaining the PG discussion forum, complaint forum.

9) Should co-ordinate with the PT cell for smooth functioning of placement process.

10) Ensure smooth functioning of student committees at department levels.

Groundwork

Responsibilities

1]They are the event (organized specially for PhDs) managers of PG Acad. Council.

2] They can plan and conduct regular events for the welfare of student community with the suggestion of GSAA-PG, IDR and other student community.

3] Should try to work towards the publicity of different council activities from the very beginning.

4] Will help to form AURAA (Academic Unit Representative for Academic Affairs) council under the GSAA PG with representatives from each department.

5] Should ensure healthy interaction between RSs and Masters Students by organizing various technical discussions in coordination with AURAAs and ensure smooth functioning of student committees at the department levels.

Handle the Design + Publicity team and handle all the design requirements of the council.

Ensure that all activities of PGAC are reaching to students.

Roles and Responsibility of Design Nominee

  1. Should be well acquainted with- Photoshop, Adobe Premiere or equivalent softwares
  2. Should be in-charge of preparation in design of PG & Ph.D handbook, posters & web pages designs of different events.
  3. Shall create graphics, multimedia and design templates for web sites of new initiatives.
  4. Shall handle all design and publicity related activities like events, surveys, workshops of the council
  5. Shall assist the Web Nominee in improvement of design and front-end interfaces of online portals of all the events throughout year.
  6. Shall assist council members in making video of various open house session and other events and make sure these video to be updated on council web page.

Nomination for Web Nominee

Eligibility Criteria:

Any student of IIT Bombay not passing out before April 2016 can apply.

Responsibilities

Handle the Web team and handle all the web development requirements of the council.

Roles and Responsibility of Web nominee

Applicants having prior experience with php, mysql and HTML will be preferred.

He/She will:

  1. Shall come up with solutions to improve and update all the ongoing portals and pages of the PG Academic council.
  2. Shall be responsible to create and update all web-based portals and pages for the initiatives of GSAA-PG.
  3. Work on initiating new ideas and expand the horizons of web related activities concerning PG council.
  4. Assist IDR and IMR to update the PhD & Masters related contents respectively, workshops, events on the server and maintain the PG discussion and complaint forum.
  5. Shall be responsible to handle and update grievance blog regularly on council website.

Institute MSC Representative

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Should have completed at least one complete semester in the institute with no active backlogs till May 2015.
  2. Any M.Sc. /M.Sc. PhD student of IIT Bombay not passing out before April 2016 can apply.
  3. The student should not be holding any other Institute recognized post.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Shall address the issues of M. Sc. students and should take steps by coordinating with the institute authorities to improve and strengthen the research activities.
  2. Should get regular updates from them about different dept. activities and inform different plan of action of PG Acad. Council on regular basis.
  3. Should coordinate with the department level representatives to conduct the 1st year M. Sc. students’ orientation and mentorship classes.
  4. Should coordinate with the library committee and will be responsible for ensuring the availability of books on demand and conducting surveys on the same.
  5. Should co-ordinate with the PT cell for smooth functioning of placement process.
  6. Should help in organizing sessions in each department explaining the flexibilities in each curriculum.
  7. Shall be responsible for communicating information about academic policies and programs, clubs, organizations, campus life and curricular and co-curricular activities.

  10. Should coordinate with web nominee to update the M. Sc. related content to the server and in maintaining the PG discussion forum, complaint forum.

3. Arrange Seminars/Workshops/events in their respective departments at least once a month.

4. Handle responsibilities in institute wide events.

5. Will act like a bridge between department and PG academic council to address all the issues of department to PG academic council.

6. Attend at least 8 out of 10 meetings conducted for AURAAs in their tenure.
